Through the New Testament in a Year

Week 23: John 11:30-15

Song: "Stand Up for Jesus"

Young Children:

1. Mary poured perfume on Jesus to show how special He was to her. Place a drop of your favorite perfume on your child and tell them the story from John 12:1-11.

2. Show your child a fruit tree with a dead branch. Relate the lesson in John 15:1-17.

3. Talk about the word, "hate". Many people had a strong dislike for Jesus because they did not believe on Him. Talk to your child about belief. Sing:"This Little Light of Mine"

Young Men and Women/Adults:

1. What was the significance of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey?

2. If you don't know where you are going, how will you know when you get there? Have you set spiritual goals for yourself? Read John 12:35-36

3. Did any Jews believe in Jesus as the Christ?

4. The disciples thought Jesus (in John 13:27) was telling them to quickly do what? How could the disciples not understand what was happening at this time?

5. If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything. Read the words to the song, "Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus."

For This Week:

Be gentle in your speech, your thoughts, and your actions.

"A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly." Prov. 14:29

Give us patience when things disturb,

So we can somehow gently curb

Hasty words in anger spoken,

Leaving hearts sad and broken.
