Through the New Testament in a Year

Week 36: I Cor.10:19 - 14:40

Song: "A Common Love"

Young Children:

1. Christ is our example. During the day do you say to your child, "Jesus would do that this way." In other words, teach your child to guide everything they do by what Jesus would do.

2. Explain to your child what the elements of the Lord's supper are and what they mean.

3. Love is...... (See I Cor. 13)

Teach your child one part of what love is everyday. Build on that knowledge day by day.

Young Men and Women/Adults:

1. We are to look out for the interests of others. This includes acting so that others will not fall. Discuss a situation with your family in which a Christian doesn't participate in a "right" activity for fear of influencing someone to sin.

2. How do we know from I Cor. 11 that the Lord's supper is not a common meal?

3. What does love do? I Cor. 13 What does love NOT do? List several ways you can show love by doing and not doing what is listed in this scripture. Make a commitment to your family and God to do better in following these verses.

For this week:

Show proper love to everyone you come in contact with.

"....Thy words impart understanding to the simple..... Turn to me and be gracious to me, as is thy wont toward those who love they name." Psm. 119: 130, 132

Love has all the qualities
Of an eternal light
That keeps the garments of the soul
Clean and pure and bright.
