I. Isaiah 64:8, Jeremiah 18:3,4
Adelaide Pollard (Lyricist 1862-1934) was at a prayer service
one night, when an elderly woman pleaded, "It really doesn't
matter what you do with us, Lord, just have your own way with
our lives." Mrs. Pollard had been deeply discouraged but
was moved by the woman's sincere and dedicated request of God.
II. Verse 1-read
A. "Thou art the potter..........." Romans 9:20-26 We are all vessels-if we allow God to mold us after his will-through his word-we will be vessels of honor.
B. To become vessels of honor-we must yield to him and still
our own opinions-conforming to his. Mark 4:8-Are we the good ground?
Romans 6:12-18 When we yield our will to God, we become servants-not
of sin-but of righteousness. James 3:8-13 Do we yield our tongue
to his works with meekness and wisdom? All aspects of our Christian
life must yield to the pattern of Jesus Christ. Psalms 84:4 When
you are still-you listen, you pay respect and reverence, you understand
and you can be taught.
III. Verse 2-read
A. "Search me and try me Master today." Psalms 139:23-24,
Jeremiah 17:10,
Lamentations 3:40 Our prayer to God should be that we desire that
the Lord look into our hearts, reveal any wickedness, and lead
us in the way to everlasting life.
B. "Whiter than snow." Psalms 51:6-15 David prayed
for deliverance from blood-guiltiness, but the sacrifice of bulls
and goats could not accomplish this. Heb 9:13-15 Christ and his
sacrifice is the only thing that washes us whiter than snow! Isaiah
2:11 If we do not humbly bow in God's presence here on this earth-we
will in judgment. The Lord will be exalted and we will be cast
out!
IV. Verse 3-read
A. "Hold o'er my being absolute sway." Heb. 3:6, Proverbs 3:5-6, Jeremiah 10:23, II Thess. 3:5
B. "Fill with thy spirit.............." Eph. 5:18-21, 3:8-12, Romans 13:12-14, I Tim. 4:12, I Peter 2:21-24 When we do his will, we are an example to others and then all will see-Christ living in me!
