Lesson 52-No Tears in Heaven

I. Robert S. Arnold--The February 2001 issue of With All Boldness (http://www.faith-facts.com/wab.html) contains biographies of many well-known Christian hymn writers.

II. Verse 1
No tears in heaven, no sorrows given, all will be glory in that land; there'Il be no sadness, all will be gladness, when we shall join that happy band.
Ecc. 4:1, Luke 7:37-50, Rev. 21:4, I Thess. 4:13-18, Matt. 24:30, Psa. 128:1-2, James 5:11.
As stated in previous lesson God will wipe away our tears by eliminating the following: (see lesson 10 for more details) 1. Death
2. Sorrow
3. Crying
4. Pain
When the need for tears is replaced by happiness and joy, we can truly serve the Lord, worship him, and give him glory. The sadness and sorrows that we experience in this life are trials that can strengthen or defeat us. Our attitude toward them is important. If we realize that there will come a time when these are eliminated, the resulting hope can help us to endure.

III. Verse 2
Glory is waiting, waiting up yonder, where we shall spend an endless day; there with our Savior, we'll be forever, where no more sorrow can dismay.
Rom. 2:111, 2 Cor.4:17-18, 2 Tim. 2:10, I Pet 5:10.
Compare the short time on earth that we endure pain and sorrow with the eternal joy that we can inherit through Jesus Christ. The only thing that he asks of us, to receive this, is to follow Him and His Word. Our light affliction results, for us, in an endless day. Gone will be the uncertainty of this life, replaced by the ability to worship God forever.

IV. Verse 3
Some morning yonder, we'll cease to pander, O'er things this life has brought to view; all will be clearer, saved ones be dearer, in heav'n where all will be made new.
Ecc. 1:3-11, 2:3, 6:12, 2 Pet 3:13, Rev 21:1.
If we attempted to list all the things in this life that we must seriously think about in order to learn, to succeed, to fulfill our responsibilities, the list would be seemingly endless. Just the wonders of the world that God has created, bring many questions to our minds, many thing to think about, one of the great joys of being with God in eternity is that all important things will be brought to our knowledge. For many, this knowledge will bring sorrow and suffering, because of the wrong choices made in this life. Eternal punishment will include the knowledge that there is nothing to do to change your eternal fate. (See the Rich Man and Lazarus). The new heavens and the new earth, will replace the problems and sorrows that come with what we have now.

V. Chorus
No tears in heaven fair, no team, no tears up there, sorrow and pain will all have flown; no tears in heaven fair, no tears, no tears up there, no tears in heaven will be known.
Will the joys of heaven be worth doing the instructions that Christ has left for us? Will the problems and trials that cross our lives prevent us from achieving the ultimate prize? Heaven is worth anything that we have to endure in this life.
