Through the New Testament in a Year

Week 24: John 16-20

Song: "What will you do with Jesus?"

Young Children:

1. Talk to your child about prayer. Pray daily with your child.

2. Jesus teaches us to believe in him, do you speak to your children about your belief in Jesus as the Son of God?

3. In our materialistic world, it is important to show our children that material things are not as important as spiritual things. Cut out pictures of things the world values and also cut out pictures of people in a relationship with others (ex. a mother and child, two friends). Paste these pictures on a paper and talk about which is most important.

Young Men and Women/Adults:

1. John 16:15-16 -- Who is Jesus promising will come when he leaves? What are the duties of the one coming?

2. In John 16: 17-27 The disciples' sadness would turn to joy because ___________________________________________________________________.

3. Jesus was betrayed by Judas and denied by Peter, yet Jesus was constantly encouraging his disciples to be faithful and true. We must be careful to heed the warnings "lest we fall". List some scriptures that warn us.

For This Week:

One of the most inspiring thing you can do is to inspire another person.

"Your own soul is nourished when you are kind; it is destroyed when you are cruel." Prov. 11:17

What does it matter if man reaches his goal-

And gains the whole world but loses his soul,

For what have we won if in gaining this end

We've been much too busy to be kind to a friend?
